Where your recording is processed

Your audio and video recordings are transcribed locally on your Windows PC; nothing from those recordings is uploaded to the cloud for transcription. You select a file on the computer, run the job in Vidrick, review the resulting text and save your exports.

Speaker processing and the app’s transcript insights also run in the local desktop workflow. Local processing describes where this work happens. It does not by itself determine who can access your computer, where you save files or whether another application synchronizes a folder.

Which steps use the internet?

Account setup, application and component downloads, and license checks require internet access. “Local transcription” does not mean the entire application never connects to the internet. Plan for setup and licensing when choosing where and when to work.

The customer portal handles your account, subscription and downloads. It is separate from processing a recording in the Windows app. See our privacy policy for the published account and service information.

Evaluate the workflow before using sensitive material

1. Use a non-sensitive sample first. Choose a short recording you are entitled to use. Keep the recording with your own team; you do not need to send it to Vidrick support to try the app.
2. Choose your storage location deliberately. Check whether your input or output folders are shared or synchronized by other software.
3. Review both words and labels. Compare names, dates and important quotes with the recording. Use the editor to correct errors.
4. Decide who needs the export. TXT, DOCX, SRT and VTT files can be copied and shared like other files. Manage access and retention according to your organization’s requirements.

Local processing and professional requirements

Journalists can evaluate working transcripts of interviews; businesses can evaluate administrative or staff-training recordings. Your organization remains responsible for consent, access controls, retention and deciding whether a tool fits its obligations.

Vidrick does not claim HIPAA compliance, clinical validation, court certification or guaranteed confidentiality. For a medical practice evaluating the app, start with a non-patient administrative sample and do not rely on the output for clinical decisions. Legal transcripts also require appropriate human review; this is not a certified transcription service.

Practical tradeoffs

Processing on your PC avoids a cloud transcription upload and per-minute transcription billing. In return, your hardware does the work.
