What “offline transcription” means here

Your audio and video recordings are transcribed locally on your Windows PC; nothing from those recordings is uploaded to the cloud for transcription. Account setup, downloads and license checks require internet access. Complete setup and download the required components before planning a transcription session away from a connection.

This is a recorded-file workflow: you open an existing recording in a desktop app. Vidrick does not join calls as a meeting bot or automatically import recordings from a meeting service. Read the local-processing and internet-access guide to understand the distinction.

From recording to reviewed transcript

  1. Set up on Windows. Create an account, activate the trial, download Vidrick and complete the component downloads.
  2. Start with a short sample. Open a supported audio or video file. Choose the recording language, or Auto-detect, and select your speaker options.
  3. Transcribe locally. Allow the job to finish. Processing time depends on recording length, your hardware and the selected settings.
  4. Check the result. Compare names, numbers, quotations and speaker changes with the original recording in your review workflow. Correct the transcript in the editor.
  5. Export for your next task. Use TXT or DOCX for written work, or SRT/VTT for subtitles. Review subtitle text and timing before publishing.

CPU processing or an NVIDIA GPU?

Personal uses your CPU for transcription. Professional adds acceleration on compatible NVIDIA GPUs through CUDA. A supported GPU can shorten processing time, but a speed estimate from another machine is not a promise for yours. Check a sample on the computer you intend to use before committing to a large batch.

The app is for Windows; there is no native Mac or mobile version. There are no per-minute transcription fees, but local jobs still require processing time and storage for components, recordings and exports. Keep enough free disk space for your work.

Example: preparing a recorded interview

For a two-person interview, select the recording language and enter the expected speaker count, or use Automatic speaker identification.
